Memories are weird things. They tend to capture what they choose to capture but even many thoughts that find themselves in captivity often escape.
As a small group pastor, I hope I remember…
· The small group leaders who gave me grace while I was learning to be an effective small group pastor
· Bill Donahue who took the time out of his amazingly busy schedule to have lunch with a first time small group pastor and allowed me to pick his brain
· The first adult small group I ever led
· Scott Shoopman who was in the first adult small group I ever led and went on to lead a small group ministry of his own for a period of time
· The small group leaders who caught me in the hallway at church and told me the stories of life-change taking place in their small group
· Linda Trent who demanded we start small groups for Senior Adults and created one of the most potent small group ministries for seniors I’ve ever seen
· Brad Johnson, my senior pastor who not only promoted small groups, he led one, multiplied many, and was the reason the small group ministry at Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky flourished.
